Mr Syed S. Ahmed MBChB, MSc, LLM, FRCS (Tr & Orth) is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip surgery at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust and the Kent & Medway Orthopaedic Centre. He is one of the highest-volume hip surgeons in the UK, and has helped pioneer high-efficiency theatre pathways and day-case hip arthroplasty within the NHS.
Mr Ahmed trained in Kent, Surrey and Sussex before undertaking advanced fellowship training in hip and knee arthroplasty at University College London Hospital and in Toronto, Canada. Alongside his clinical work, he is deeply committed to education, leadership, and service innovation in orthopaedics.
He serves as Training Programme Director for Core Surgical Training in KSS and College Tutor at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, where he is actively involved in mentoring the next generation of surgeons. He is also a Clinical Advisor to the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme and Chair of the Emerging Leaders Committee of the European Hip Society, where he contributes to shaping the future of hip surgery and developing young leaders in the speciality.
Through his clinical work, research, and national roles, he is passionate about building services, developing teams, and inspiring future orthopaedic surgeons.
From Performance to Purpose: The 1% Mindset for High Performance
Montell Douglas is a multi-talented sports star who has competed as an Olympic Bobsledder and Team GB Sprinter. Her highly decorated sporting career has taken her around the world to some of the biggest events in the sporting calendar.
In 2010, Montell won Commonwealth Gold in the 4x100m relay race in Delhi – and holds a European Under-23 Silver Medal in 100m. She also held the British woman’s record for fastest 100m sprint at 11.05 seconds, smashing the previous record which had stood unbeaten for 27 years.
Montell transitioned to bobsledding in 2016, and the following year finished within the Top 10 at her World Cup debut. Her appearance at the Beijing Winter Olympics etched her name into sporting history as she became the first female UK athlete to compete at both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games.
Outside of sports, Montell graduated from Middlesex University with a degree in Psychology. Never one to sit still, she’s also a Physical & Mental Well-Being Coordinator, helping vulnerable families in her community.
In 2023, Montell was unveiled as ‘Fire’, starring in the new BBC One series of Gladiators.
In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Montell has appeared on various television programs, including Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, Sport Relief, and Blankety Blank.
